Daybreak, a registered charity, is welcoming new Independent Coordinators to join our team.
We work with a team of self-employed Coordinators across the South of England and are actively looking for new potential Coordinators who would benefit from receiving full Family Group Conference (FGC) training to help us deliver our objective of empowering more families to tackle the challenges facing them.
Upon receiving a referral, Coordinators will engage with a family’s support network, getting to know them and the issues they face, before supporting them to work together and devise secure action plans to address concerns – enabling them to move forward, be safe, and thrive.
Our Coordinators are experienced in working alongside individuals facing a diverse range of challenges, including mental health, substance abuse, and domestic violence. This means that, no matter what your background, we are sure we can find a way for you to use your skills to empower families to find a way forward.
If you have experience in working alongside families and communities or in helping to resolve challenging situations generally, then this could be the role for you. Education, emergency or front-line public services, youth work, social work, or adult welfare are just a few examples of the kind of experiences that would make you perfectly-equipped to be a Family Group Conference Coordinator.
We want to expand the use of Family Group Conferences to a wide range of environments and referral agents, beyond the primary focus of children’s social services – so now is a great time to add your skills and experience to our growing team.
Our services are currently based in Portsmouth, Reading, Bromley, Hackney, and Wiltshire and we are therefore prioritising applications in these areas. However, we are keen to hear from applicants across the whole South of England, to help us broaden our reach and ensure we can aid as many families and communities as possible.

Requirements
- Experience working in or around social care, or a role that involves problem-solving in sensitive situations.
- Commitment to delivering quality work for families and helping them to move forward.
- Facilitative skills, adept in bringing people together and ensuring everyone is listened to.
- Openness and honesty.
- Creative and compassionate approach to work.

- Attend and self-fund a Family Group Conference Coordinator training course. Please note that the cost of this course is less than the fee for supporting just one family.
- Following becoming trained, you can apply and interview to join the Daybreak self-employed Coordinator team. Please note, that you are also able to apply to join another provider to coordinate Family Group Conferences on their behalf.

Role details
- Fee, once trained: £494 fee for the first 6 referrals, then £545 fee thereafter, per completed FGC, plus expenses (£566 for those with full Level 3 Accreditation & 6 initial referrals completed)
- Working pattern: Flexible to suit you and the needs of each case, with a combination of working from home and traveling to see families. We are looking for people who can offer a full-time commitment, as well as those who can single case-hold.
- Contract: Independent, Self-employed
- Ongoing Training: As a freelance role, we would expect Coordinators to keep up to date with and self-fund required training, including Safeguarding and Data Protection. We have limited but discounted spaces in our training events and workshops for Coordinators working with us.
- Enhanced DBS is essential.
