Devizes Opendoors is a local charity dedicated to supporting people in the Devizes area who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We aim to reduce social exclusion by offering practical help, friendship and signposting to other services, so that guests can find stability and begin to rebuild their lives.
We run three weekly drop-in sessions at the Southbroom Centre, Victoria Road, where around 15–30 guests come for support. At each session we provide a freshly cooked meal, hot drinks and the chance to relax in a safe and welcoming space. Guests also have access to showers, clothing, toiletries and surplus food to take away.
Beyond meeting immediate needs, we offer one-to-one support and connect people with local agencies that can help with housing, benefits, health, addiction and other challenges. With a small staff team and nearly 60 volunteers, we also run extra activities when possible, such as crafts, games and hairdressing.
We believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect, and in helping people to move from crisis to greater independence.
