What do DIGs do?
-
Accessibility audits & advice – works with businesses, schools, councils, and event organisers to spot barriers and suggest practical improvements.
-
Advocacy & campaigns – gives the disability community a collective voice on transport, streetscape, health, and leisure issues, lobbying for better policies and funding.
-
Peer support & drop-in sessions – hosts friendly weekly meet-ups in Salisbury where people can share experiences, get sign-posting to specialist services, and combat isolation.
-
Training & awareness talks – delivers workshops for staff teams and community groups on disability awareness, the Equality Act, and inclusive customer service.
-
Fund-raising for inclusive projects – from accessible play equipment to public “safe places”, DIG raises money and partners with local charities to make Wiltshire spaces welcoming for all.
-
Community events & surveys – runs stalls, open days and online polls to gather lived-experience feedback that guides future improvements.
By bringing together individuals with lived experience, allies, and local organisations, DIG turns insight into action—making Wiltshire a place where everyone can participate fully and confidently.
