Are you a level 4 qualified counsellor and registered with a relevant professional body? Could you provide counselling sessions to children and young people in the local area, including preparing for sessions and recording afterwards?
Our Swindon and Wiltshire Phoenix Project are looking for Volunteer Counsellors to join their team. The team supports children and young people who have experienced Child Sexual Abuse (CSA). We are looking for fully qualified counsellors, who are able to work with children up to the age of 25, with a range of support needs.
What will you be doing?
- Providing counselling sessions to children and young people within school/community settings over a specific number of weeks.
- Preparing resources, booking rooms and communicating with link staff in schools.
- Actively engaging in regular clinical supervision, alongside regular supervision with a nominated Barnardo's supervisor.
- Maintaining a level of practice in line with BACP Toolkit and professional counselling standards/code of practice.
- Recording information to feedback to commissioners.
- Adhering to Barnardo's policies and procedures at all times, including Barnardo's: Safeguarding; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Health & Safety; Data Protection; Confidentiality; Recording policies and procedures.
- Participating fully in training and supervision.
- Volunteering within Barnardo's Values and Behaviours.
The skills you need:
- This role is suitable for Level 4 Qualified counsellors, with some experience and or understanding of working with children and young people - including a practical placement of at least 100 hours of supervised practice.
- All volunteers must be Registered with a relevant professional body e.g. BACP, PTUK, HCPC, UKCP and working towards accreditation if eligible.
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
- Approachable and welcoming.
- Good listening and communication skills.
