Are you passionate about providing one to one therapeutic support for family members of patients with a palliative diagnosis?

We are recruiting for a volunteer Therapeutic Practitioner to join our specialist Family Support Team.

As a Therapeutic Practitioner you will be supporting and assessing the needs of individuals and offer interventions that promote healthy grieving and coping strategies.

Ideally you will available to provide three therapeutic sessions per week (around three hours) plus time for record keeping and supervision. You also need to have qualification in counselling or psychotherapy to at least Diploma level and already have an established practice.

Why we want you:

To provide one to one therapeutic support for family members of patients with a palliative diagnosis.

What you will be doing

  • Provide therapeutic support for family members of patients with a palliative diagnosis
  • Assess the needs of individuals and offer interventions that promote healthy grieving and coping strategies
  • Provide three therapeutic sessions weekly
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Family Support Team
  • Record all contact and maintain confidential notes

The skills you need:

  • A qualification in counselling or psychotherapy to at least Diploma level
  • Some experience of working with illness, loss and grief
  • Awareness and understanding of the impact of life limiting illness
  • An ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • A commitment to providing high quality therapeutic support, being responsive to personal training needs and maintaining an appropriate level of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
