About
Support, activities, events and fundraising opportunities for young people, aged 10 to 18
Many young people in Marlborough face challenges including lack of support for positive activities, poor mental health, and ongoing disruption to education. During the pandemic, social skills suffered and increasing levels of anti-social behaviour is evident. We are just 10 miles south of Swindon, which has been hit hard by County Line gangs and recently experienced a second fatal stabbing within a few months. We need to ensure our youngsters have other options and someone they can turn to who won’t judge, to help them make good choices.
To help address the risks they face we want to help youngsters be active participants in their own lives, take responsibility, develop both self belief and a sense of belonging to their own community. For this we need an experienced Youth Worker and an active Youth Club that will attract young teenagers.
We have set up a CIO, the Marlborough Area Youth Forum, with a grant from the local Council with which we have recruited a Youth Worker who is building a programme of activities and running the club every Friday. Now we are better organised and running regularly, we need to attract more volunteers, expand our offer, and bring young people into the planning and fund raising processes; to make it their club
