We are a family orientated club that seeks to develop a love for cricket and also to help young players develop their potential.
We have a "Cricket for Life" mentality - but also hope to help young cricketers develop the skills needed to play representative cricket for their club, school, district or county.
Winsley Cricket Club is working to engage new and marginalized audiences.
My name is Nadeem Ahmed and as Safeguarding and EDI lead, I’m focused on making the club an ECB Disability Champion Cricket Club.
Plans for Introducing Disability Cricket
I’ve attended a Disability Cricket hub run by Wiltshire Cricket and received equipment to support participants with disabilities. I plan to host taster sessions at Winsley Village Hall, inviting 5-8 young people with disabilities to try cricket (AGED 5-11). The club will cover the venue costs for the initial sessions. Wiltshire Cricket’s Disability Cricket Officers will assist in running the sessions. Based on the response, further sessions will be organized, with the goal of regular sessions in 2025.
How You Can Help
This project is in its preliminary stages, and I would appreciate your help in sharing it within your networks. Interested parties can contact me at [email protected] or via WhatsApp at 07989 422781.
Future Aspirations
This initiative will be Winsley CC’s first disability cricket venture. Based on feedback from participants and stakeholders, we hope to establish regular sessions and potentially form a disability cricket team to compete regionally. We also aim to build stronger partnerships with local disability organisations. I would also welcome leads where I can apply for grants to support and maintain this project beyond the taster sessions. We will only need funding to cover the cost of village hall (autumn and winter months only), adminstrator/coaching costs and cover travel expenses for our volunteers during the sessions.
