I have worked in many roles across business, including Sales and Sales Management, Supply Chain, Project Management, Business Unit Management and Operations, but for the last 22 years, I have worked in Information Technology with an ever increasing emphasis on Cyber Security. I held leadership roles in Texaco and the Volvo Franchise network as well as senior level leadership positions in two UK PLC's, most recently as Group ICT and Cyber Security Director for one of the UK's most innovative Defence, Energy, Space and Aviation businesses. Over a 12 year period, during which time the business grew from a 30-person Research and Development start-up to a multinational employing 450 people across six countries, I was responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting IT Infrastructure and Support, Business Systems, Communications Technologies and Cyber Security protocols to provide agile and effective solutions to the companies' users, or 'internal customers' as they were treated, while maintaining high standards of redundancy, data security and Cyber protection. I was also led the creation of an overarching Security framework, incorporating all aspects of Security, as well as creating policies and processes and driving the business to attain accreditations to support their aim of protecting its data, as well as that of its Customers and Suppliers. I am the owner and principal consultant of an IT and Cyber Security consultancy and I'm also the Information Security lead for a trade organisation that works with the Government and the UK Defence Sector to improve and secure all aspects of trade between them. I am a former director of a national patient support charity and currently a Parish Councillor at a large village in Wiltshire.
