Our Fresh Foodbanks are open twice a week, on Saturdays and Mondays.
On Monday mornings they are held at Mere Toddler Group (at Mere Lecture Hall during term time).
On Saturday they are held in Mere Town Council entrance hall, at Mere School and stock fresh fruit/vegetables and bread. Look for the sign.
In the school holidays they are both held at the Town Council entrance at Mere School on Saturdays and at the Lecture Hall on Mondays.
From 10:00 to 11:00 they are open to all families in need. From 11:00 to 11.30 we ask other members of the community to help themselves to the rest, but, if they are not in need, to exchange their goods for dried food tins/packets, or to make a small cash donation. These donations are either given to Gillingham Foodbank, or used to purchase vouchers for the local Co-op for emergencies.
Any fresh food that is left over (usually stale bread) at the end of each fresh Foodbank day, is then collected by a local farmer.
All long-life /dried food, toiletries and cleaning products are donated to Gillingham Foodbank who can help with both advice and emergency food parcels. They can be found online.
