The Monday Evening Chat Cafe is a support group for anyone affected by prostate cancer - this includes family and friends supporting someone with the cancer diagnosis.
The drive for this group came from guests at our twice-monthly cancer cafe, with initial funding coming from a sponsored skydive!
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. More than 52,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year on average – that's 144 men every day. Every 45 minutes one man dies from prostate cancer – that's more than 12,000 men every year. 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
Chatting about your experience can support others and encourage men to consider a pre-emptive check that might save their life.
Like all the Chat Cafes run by Open Door, the cafe is free to attend when you like (no need to book) and there will always be someone there to welcome you and sit for a chat. Why not come and say hello?
