Wiltshire Creative invites all adults with an interest in theatre to join Adult Theatre Workshop, designed for anyone who wants to explore and develop performance skills in a supportive, creative environment led by theatre professionals.
Whether you’re reconnecting with a passion for theatre, building on past experience, or stepping into the rehearsal room for the first time, this is your chance to learn and experiment without the pressure of performance. Just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm.
Autumn Term 1 (SOLD OUT): Shakespeare with Christian Emmerson - This term will focus on staging set scenes and duologues, designed to bring Shakespeare’s words to life, moving them off the page and into performance. Participants will explore text through guided exercises and games. Each participant will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform a directed scene, applying the skills and techniques developed for understanding and delivering Shakespearean text. You will explore characters motivation and physicality and learn about different approaches to Staging Shakespeare. Texts used will include Macbeth, Othello, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and selected sonnets. No prior experience is necessary!
Autumn Term 2: Comedy in Performance with Dan Avery - Fast, fun and energising workshops exploring bold, larger-than-life character and comedy. Ever wanted to be a villain, a king, or an over-the-top comic creation? Off the back of Shakespeare and heading into panto season, this is all about big choices and transformation. Open your imagination through physicality, voice and presence. Build confidence through games and scene work. Hone performance skills and trust your instincts. Work collaboratively and learn as a team. Open to all experience levels. Expect big energy, bold characters and plenty of laughter.
Adult Theatre Workshop is about the joy of learning, creativity, and being part of a company of like-minded individuals. You’ll gain access to ideas and approaches often reserved for formal training, right on your doorstep at Salisbury Arts Centre.
