Our mission: Empowering and connecting our community by supporting and championing local charities, groups, and organsations, enabling them to drive positive and lasting change.
We offer practical support to develop the setup of organisations and charities who provide services, support, advice and activities to our residents living in Wiltshire.
Charities and community organisations manage all their own information on the platform and are encouraged to keep it up to date so it is always current.
As a council for voluntary services, we are here to represent and support the voluntary and community sector in Wiltshire, no matter what size groups are. They may be starting out or well established, but need development support. We liken ourselves to the Chamber of Commerce where we are here specifically to help the voluntary and community sector develop, provide resources and share best practice.
Leaders & advocates. We bring people together to have a stronger voice, mobilising and encouraging community ambition.
Partnerships & collaborations. We connect local voluntary and community organisations with a range of public and private partners.
Community Development. We support Voluntary organisations through information, advice, support and training to develop their infrastructure, enabling them to thrive effectively and sustainably.
Volunteering. We are leading and creating the culture in which volunteering can thrive and grow in Wiltshire as well as leading on the development of a new Volunteer Centre for Wiltshire.
We achieved this quality mark from the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) demonstrating our strength and impact.
The LIQA is a quality mark that which ensures that local communities and VCSE organisation accessing services can be confident of effective, high-quality support; and which enables local authorities, health bodies and other commissioners and funders to be confident they are investing in and working alongside effective local partners.
This centre is set up to provide a hub for all things volunteering across Wiltshire, including themed events, information, and links for support (for volunteers and organisations looking for volunteers) and our Volunteer Managers Forum to collectively help Wessex Community Action shape a new Volunteer Centre for Wiltshire.
Wessex Community Action produces a regular newsletter for the voluntary and community sector. The newsletter is an information resource for the voluntary and community sector as well as spotlighting some of the amazing services and activities offered by the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCSE) in Wiltshire.
