The Chatty Cafe currently runs at The Mill Café in Bradford on Avon 10-12 every Monday. The aim of The Chatty Cafe is to encourage people to talk to others, help to lift their mood, and support them to feel less lonely or isolated. Anyone 18+ is welcome to come and enjoy a coffee and chat, whether it be 5 minutes or an hour. There is no agenda or topics to these sessions.

The table was set up by members of the Melksham and Bradford on Avon Health and Wellbeing Team and due to its success we are now recruiting volunteers to help run this table!

Are you :

  • A strong communicator
  • Someone who has excellent organisational skills
  • A kind and empathetic person
  • Passionate about making safe and welcoming spaces for people

The role of a chatty café volunteer would be to host the established table where you would help to create a welcoming space where members of the public can get together and chat. You would need to undertake some training which takes about 1.5 hours via the Chatty Café Scheme. This includes attending an induction session, completing an ID check, watching safeguarding and providing a reference. Everything else will be just learning from the team until confident to take over with other volunteers.
