Do you enjoy working with children and young people? Are you free on a weekday evening and looking for a rewarding way to spend your time?
We have opportunities to support our Griffin service, an evening youth club where young people with special educational needs and disabilities aged 13-18 years old can make new friends, socialise, and have fun. The club’s activities are worked around the young people’s interests and hobbies wherever possible. These clubs involve a range of activities such as cooking, movie nights and crafts plus we encourage everyday life skills with support from a team of play workers and volunteers. If you have skills or interests in particular areas, these can be used at the club to teach attendees and encourage group learning.
This youth club operates weekly in a range of locations across Wiltshire on set weekday evenings: Mondays in Marlborough, Tuesdays in Calne or Devizes, Wednesdays in Chippenham and Thursdays in Trowbridge. The children and young people attend the youth club from 6:30-8:30pm. Successful volunteers need to be available for 2.5 hours to account for setting up and packing away time.
Where possible we ask that volunteers can cover multiple club locations across Wiltshire to help with volunteer staffing during busy periods. Volunteers traveling between club venues, will be eligible to receive travel expenses reimbursements.
We are looking for volunteers, with a passion for making a difference in children’s lives, a fun and approachable attitude and an ability to engage young people in worthwhile and enjoyable activities.
