Chippenham Film Club was formed to bring films to the town that would not normally be seen on the big screen in Chippenham. Screenings are typically held monthly on the second Tuesday each month - anyone can attend but members get discounted tickets.
Our March screening is 'Vermiglio' (also known as 'The Mountain Bride')which is a 2024 wartime drama set in a remote Alpine village. The film has an age rating of 15.
As the momentous events of the Second World War draw to a close, and life returns to normal, the arrival of a Sicilian deserter unsettles the isolated Alpine community’s quiet equilibrium, and unsettles a schoolteacher’s family, particularly his eldest daughter.
Directed by Maura Delpero, and starring Tommaso Ragno ('Happy as Lazzaro', 'Nostalgia'), 'Vermiglio' collected a slew of awards and nominations, including the Venice International Film Festival where Delpero won the Silver Lion and Sorriso Diverso (best Italian film), with Martina Scrinzi winning the Nuovoimae Talent Award for best new young actress.
