Description

The Opportunity

2nd Marlborough Scout Group is looking for organised and enthusiastic volunteers to join our team as Trustees.

The Role

Got skills to share? As a Trustee, you'll play a valued role supporting the Chair of Trustees, and help to keep our thriving Scout Group running smoothly.

Working alongside a committed team of fellow Trustees, dedicated Group Leaders, and enthusiastic parent supporters, you'll be a part of decision-making, and take on tasks that play to your strengths — whether that's helping to manage projects to maintain our Scout Hut, supporting financial and fundraising activities, or turning up and getting stuck in at group events. No camping required — just the drive to make a difference.

Your time and skills could translate into life-changing adventure for children and young people in our community.

We'd love to hear from you if you are:

  • A retired professional looking for a fulfilling way to stay active and give something back
  • Someone considering a career change or return to work, keen to build practical experience within an established charitable group
  • A parent or community member who wants to be more involved in local life
  • Anyone looking for something rewarding and purposeful that's genuinely good for your wellbeing

No specific Scouting experience is necessary — but experience managing people, projects, finances, events, or a busy family life could give you exactly the transferable skills this role needs. We're looking for people who are enthusiastic, committed, and reliable, with a genuine interest in supporting children and young people to grow, learn and thrive.

What's in it for you?

Volunteering as a Trustee could give you the chance to use or develop skills in leadership, governance, safeguarding and teamworking — valuable whether you're updating your CV, exploring a new direction, or simply want to feel more connected to your community. You'll be joining an engaged, welcoming and dedicated group of Trustees and Leaders who are passionate about what Scouting can do.

Above all, it's fun, fulfilling and genuinely good for your wellbeing.

You'll be fully supported from the start

All volunteers receive full training to feel confident in their role. All positions require a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check as part of our commitment to keeping children and young people safe — and we'll guide you through every step of the process.

If this sounds like you — or you know someone it might suit — we’d love to have a conversation.
