We are looking for volunteers who could provide telephone support for socially isolated older people, through meaningful person-centred conversations. You'll be supported through training with CAW artists and we are asking for 1 hour, once per fortnight across a 10-week period.
Already, 6 artists are creating wonderful songs, poetry and illustrations, as well as supporting journal-writing, life history stories, singing, art and crafts and much more. Volunteers support the artist’s calls by catching up with participants about their creative work the following week, and it's proven to be hugely rewarding for all involved.
“Your phone calls have saved my life, turned it around. I look forward to things now.” - participant in Creative Conversations
We've been inundated with referrals to the project from GPs, local Community Connectors and Alzheimer’s Support and have plans to grow the project to support more isolated older people across the county. We need more volunteers to help make this possible; if you think you might like to join this rewarding project please get in touch.
