I am running a, not for profit, training course aimed specifically at community groups, clubs societies and local charities.

Limited scope PAT inspection and testing course

A short practical training session in portable appliance testing to be held in Winterslow.

In order to address the needs of charities, clubs and community groups who typically have a need to inspect and test members own, second-hand or borrowed electrical equipment.  These sort of organisations do not, in general, have the same requirements as commercial or industrial organisations, or those hiring equipment or renting out property.

I am offering a Limited scope PAT inspection and testing course:

Covering 230V appliances. Not 110v, 400 or 415v industrial equipment.
Only covering appliances fitted with a 13A plug. Not fixed wired-in equipment.
Not covering equipment for hire or as part of a rental property.

A limited scope version of my full PAT course tailored to the needs of these groups. I offer a practical, hands on course that satisfies the legal requirements for people who lack the skills and training of an electrician.  The course is fully compliant with the IET code of practice, HSE guidance and covers much of the same material as a full City and Guilds 2377 course.

Who should attend?

Anyone responsible for safety within:

Clubs, Charities, Community groups

Either as the person who will perform the inspection and testing or the person who will be engaging external electrical contractors to perform PAT testing.

No electrical qualifications needed. As long as you are numerate, literate and have a little practical aptitude. Candidates who pass will be issued with a certificate of completion confirming their competence for limited scope PAT inspection and testing.
