This webinar from Communities Prepared explores the causes of flooding, including the impact of Climate Change, the different types of flooding and how flood risk is communicated by the Environment Agency. It then moves on to the important issue of flood water safety, with information and guidance for flood volunteers on carrying out their roles safely and responsibly, minimising exposure to risks and supporting the community. The webinar will be co-presented by Communities Prepared, Wiltshire Council and the Environment Agency's Wessex Flood Resilience Team.

Join this session to build your knowledge on a range of key topics, including:

• Managing flood risk – who’s responsible?

• Weather and flood warning systems

• The potential role of a Warden before, during and after a flood

• Protecting the wellbeing of a Warden and the wider community during a flood whilst managing the daily realities of COVID-19

This webinar is based on the Communities Prepared training modules: Flood Volunteer Part 1 and Flood Volunteer Part 2, which are available to download from the hub for free.

Who is this for?

This webinar has been primarily designed for Flood wardens from both new and established Flood Warden groups and Community Emergency Volunteers in Wiltshire, but is also open to:
