This group runs on a Thursday from 10:00am – 1:30pm at Fisherton House, Salisbury.

The group aims to support brain injury survivors move towards rehabilitation goals through one to one and group work activities, focusing on social and cognitive skills.

We try to bring the community to our group members, as a way of reintroducing different interests and activities, developing the skills needed for many important aspects of life including self-management and skills for independent living, increased well being and self-confidence.  In recent months these have included visitors from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue, Co-op Fairtrade, Anybody Can Cook, Wiltshire Council Health Trainers and members of our armed services. The group have also taken part in extended projects supported by community groups, including pottery, creative writing, a nature survey, and field trips to River Bourne Community Farm in Laverstock and the stone masons at Salisbury Cathedral.

We are incredibly fortunate to have a number of volunteers come to our group on a regular basis to support group members learn new skills, such as singing and playing the ukulele.  For the past two years in September, our group has performed in a musical presentation of their singing and ukulele skills in front of an audience of their family and friends at the Salisbury Museum.  This year we were very honored to welcome Deputy Lieutenant Dr. Phil Harding, representing Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Mrs Sarah Troughton, the Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Salisbury, Councillor John Walsh and his consort Mrs Carrie Walsh to join in our evening!

The group enjoys moving and getting physical too, with regular seated zumba sessions and games of boccia, which can be played seated or standing.
