The Folly is a fantastic urban woodland in the heart of the Bemerton estate, and the Friends of the Folly group is on a mission to make it a better place both for nature and for people.
Winter is the most important time for working in the woods. It's the best time to clear back and pull out weeds and to plant trees and wildflowers. It's also a great time for employees to get outdoors, make the most of daylight hours and get some activity when evenings are long and it seems dreary outside.
We are looking for volunteers from local businesses to come out for a morning or afternoon or a full day to do a bit of work in the woods. It will involve cutting back and digging out weeds and brambles, lugging them to a suitable spot and planting seeds, shrubs and small trees. We will (fingers crossed) be able to supply tools and gloves. Volunteers will be insured when they sign up a volunteer form for Salisbury City Council.
