Out of the Can (OOTC) is a Swindon-based LGBTQ+ youth group, registered as a Charity under the Charity Commission since 2024. OOTC offers a safe and supportive space for young people aged 12-19 who want to be themselves or explore their sexual orientation or gender identity. The group meets weekly in central Swindon. This exciting opportunity is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
About You
In this position, you’ll manage the day-to-day operations of Out of the Can (OOTC) and serve as an advocate for the organisation.
If you have the following skills and experience:
- Extensive experience supporting and developing voluntary sector organisations, or networks.
- Knowledge of, or experience in, working within the local youth voluntary sector or relevant not for profit / community led groups, particularly in LGBTQ+ or other minority communities.
- Background in project and programme development, ideally including monitoring and evaluation.

Reporting to the Chair of Trustees, your main responsibilities include:
- Manage daily operations by addressing requests from Trustees and youth workers, and coordinate volunteer logistics for efficient charity function.
- Build relationships with youth organisations in Swindon and Wiltshire to expand member opportunities and improve experiences.
- Connect with secondary schools and colleges to support the charity’s goals, including fostering LGBTQ+ safe spaces.
- Oversee the Projects liaising with Trustees, establishing governance, tracking results, and assessing its impact on membership growth.
