Safeguarding your clients from CO safety risks - free workshop in Salisbury
The Gas Safe Charity has been running carbon monoxide (CO) awareness workshops across the UK for a number of years. This November, we are being supported by the gas distribution networks, SGN and Wales and West Utilities to deliver a half day workshop in Salisbury on the 22nd November during CO Awareness Week.
You may not really have thought about carbon monoxide risks in your day-to-day work or volunteering, both as it affects your clients and also you. But, your organisation has a duty of care to both. This workshop is aimed at front-line staff and volunteers from social care, NHS, the Fire & Rescue Services, Housing Associations, the voluntary / community sector and the private sector which supports vulnerable people.
The 'Think CO' workshop will tell you more about what carbon monoxide is and how it is formed, the sources, signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, how to help prevent it, and what the implications are for you in your role, your organisation and your clients. In particular, the workshop focuses on long-term, low-level risks which can have serious consequences on quality of life. The risks of CO poisoning increase with poverty and with spending time at home where CO may be present, but undetected. The cost-of-living crisis is also seeing unsafe practices arise, as people try to save money. The workshop will touch on these issues too, as well as fire safety and support available.
