Samaritans listening volunteers are ordinary people doing extraordinary things
Be there for people who desperately need someone.
You don’t need to have been through a particular life experience or be from a certain walk of life to become a Samaritan listening volunteer. Anyone who wants to help others and is tolerant and open-minded is welcome to apply.
Samaritans volunteers run more than 200 branches and locations across the UK and Ireland. They offer their time to help to deliver our 24-hour emotional support service to callers.
In Salisbury, our approximately 100 listening and support volunteers provide an incredibly valuable service. Each year, our listening volunteers deal with over 18,000 telephone calls and emails from people who are in emotional crisis and in need of immediate emotional support.
