Wessex Community Action (WCA) is a well-respected charity supporting voluntary and community organisations in the Wessex area since 1973. We are seeking professional, committed, and talented individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help shape the future of our organisation.

 

About Wessex Community Action

Wessex Community Action is a charity dedicated to strengthening charities, community groups, and grassroots organisations delivering vital services and driving change. We provide resources, training, and support so these groups can focus on their frontline activities, while actively collaborating on a wide range of partnerships and projects. We also act as a collective voice for the sector, advocating for their needs and impact.

Our Mission: Empowering and connecting our community by supporting and championing local charities, groups, and organisations, enabling them to drive positive and lasting change.

Our Vision: A community which is strong and vibrant, enabling all residents to succeed and ensuring no one is left behind.

Who we welcome: We particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian, and ethnic minorities, people under 40, those with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals. This could be your first trustee role or an opportunity to bring prior experience. Full induction and ongoing training provided.

 

Time commitment:

· Attend 5 Board meetings per year (a combination of in person and remotely), plus additional sub-group meetings as agreed.

· Engage in strategic oversight and governance.

What we’re looking for:

· Commitment to the voluntary sector and willingness to devote the necessary time.

· Strategic thinking, independent judgment, and creativity.

· Understanding of trustee duties and ability to work effectively in a team.

· Experience and skills in areas such as fundraising, finance, operational management, governance, HR, IT, PR, local government, community development, or partnership working are especially welcome.
