Following the Volunteer Fair held last year, the Forum held a workshop in October 2024 with ten attendees to begin to scope a strategy to promote, encourage and recognise volunteering in the Warminster area.
We have now engaged with the Town Council who also recognise the benefit of a strategy and are happy to partner us in moving this forward. A number of those approached also felt that Wessex Community Action should be part of this half-day event, not least because of their role in supporting voluntary groups, training, helping with strategic plans, writing Terms of Reference et al, delivering common regulatory training and, of course, hosting many existing organisations on their Wiltshire Together website.
We are now looking to move this forward through a half-day workshop on Tuesday 2 September from 1000 to 1300 hours in the Cley Room at the Civic Centre with tea/coffee and biscuits provided. At this event you will have an opportunity to learn how Wessex Community Action provides advice and support to new and growing organisations on a range of areas including strategic planning; role descriptions; recruitment, and induction; policies and procedures; DBS checks and safeguarding. There will also be a short demonstration of Wiltshire Together.Finally, we will look at how we can start to implement the ideas emanating from the session last October as the basis for an action plan moving going forward.
