We are a nation of volunteers - and volunteering is a key contributor to the economy; to our own and others' physical and mental health and wellbeing; and in creating a sense of connection to others.
But the benefits of volunteering are not one way. Volunteers of all ages often say that it helps them improve their confidence; to develop new skills and acquire valuable work experience; as well a sense of "giving back" to the community.
Typically, people often think of retail charity shops in terms of volunteering. While these roles are surely important there are as many volunteering roles as there are types of employment - from trustees to admin; from social media support to counselling and befriending; from community services to sports coaching; from working in a food bank to being a community DJ. The list is endless – but how can I find out more?
Come along to the Warminster Valuing Volunteering Fair on Saturday 1 June 2024 at the Civic Centre, Warminster from 10.30-12.30, where you can find out more from nearly 30 organisations covering myriad roles. Entrance is free as is a cup of tea/coffee and guaranteed no pressure! We look forward to seeing you there!
