Visitor Survey Volunteer – Role Description

We are looking for reliable people who are friendly, outgoing and enjoy talking to new people! You will be someone who is happy to approach visitors, to talk about their experiences and encourage them to participate in our visitor surveys. It would be helpful to have experience in a customer or visitor-facing role and be comfortable in the use of smartphones or tablet devices, but training will be provided.

You will be based primarily in the Museum’s Remembrance Gallery, where you will:

  • Talk to the public about their visits
  • Encourage and aid the completion of visitor surveys either on a tablet or their own device
  • Answer any questions visitors may have

We may also ask that you assist with additional audience development work during special events, depending on your availability.

Why volunteer with us?

This is a great way for you to support the Museum by making sure all visitors are heard and can continue to enjoy visiting us. You will gain experience of volunteering in a museum environment and of conducting data collection, something that will look good on your CV. It is also an excellent opportunity to interact with other volunteers and the friendly staff team here at the Museum. Full training will be provided.

We are able to provide travel expenses covering 30p per mile, or your public transport ticket, up to a maximum value of £25 per journey.

All volunteers are entitled to receive 10% discount in the REME Shop and Crown's Cafe.

REME Museum T-shirts/polo shirts will be provided to all volunteers working in public-facing roles.

Please do contact us for a preliminary discussion if you are interested; our email address is enquiries@rememuseum.org.uk, or you can telephone us on 01249 894869.

What will we reject?

Wiltshire Together is not a business directory for commercial organisations, as we would then need to charge advertising rates (which we don’t). We will approve relevant activities added by non-profits.

How quickly will we approve activities?

We aim to approve activities within 2 working days. Our admins do not work Fridays, so activities posted on a Thursday may not be reviewed until Monday.
