We are looking for volunteers to help in our Warminster shop!
Are you looking to get out and about and make some new friends? Would you like to support your local community? Want a fun and busy work experience placement?
Volunteers are being called on to join the Julia’s House team and help out at the local charity’s high street shops across Wiltshire, including a brand new shop coming to Warminster on 20th October.
Julia’s House is your local children’s hospice, looking after the most seriously ill children and their families in the community and at the charity’s hospice buildings in Devizes and Corfe Mullen.
We rely almost entirely on donations to provide our vital care, so the funds raised by our shops make a huge difference – and it’s only thanks to our team of volunteers that the doors can stay open and welcome shoppers regularly throughout the week.
Helping hands are needed on the tills and behind the scenes, sorting donations. You don’t have to have experience to be a volunteer at Julia’s House as we provide all the training you will require. You just need to be friendly, reliable and willing to learn.
Volunteering has lots of benefits from building confidence to reducing stress and is a great way to make friends and have fun. Hours are flexible with a variety of morning and afternoon shifts available across the week.
It’s a great feeling to be supporting your local community and will make all the difference to the children and families we care for locally. We would love to hear from anyone who has a few hours to spare.
This is a voluntary role with no salary.
Julia’s House is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and volunteers. Our aim is for our workforce and volunteers to be truly representative of all sections of society and our clients, and for each employee and volunteer to feel respected and able to give their best.
As part of our values, we are committed to supporting equality, diversity and inclusion. Everyone is welcome and supported in their development at all stages in their journey with us. Based on our current staffing and volunteer profile, we have identified that there is an under-representation of: (a) individuals of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds, so would especially welcome BAME applicants for any of our vacant positions; and (b) males, so we would welcome male applicants for any of our vacant positions and specially for any care and nursing roles.
