Who we are:

Wessex Community Action is an independent charity, providing infrastructure support to the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector across the Wessex region. Based in Salisbury, we act as advocates for the voluntary sector by connecting, representing and advising voluntary and community organisations. Our aim is to empower organisations and volunteers to deliver positive impact to the communities they serve.

 

JOB TITLE: Volunteering Development Worker

LOCATION: Salisbury, Wiltshire (Hybrid)

HOURS: 14 per week (across 2 days)

SALARY: £24,000 FTE, pro rata

 

Job Purpose:

To support and facilitate the development, growth and sustainability of volunteering across the VCSE sector in Wiltshire.

 

The key activities include:

  • To provide advice, guidance and support to VCSE organisations and key partners on:

-Volunteer management policy and governance

-Recruiting volunteers, onboarding volunteers, developing volunteers and retention of volunteers.

-Recognition of the contribution of volunteers

  • Lead on the Lottery funded Volunteer Champions programme and development of volunteering on Wiltshire Together portal.
  • Host and facilitate the Volunteer Managers Forum, a peer training and support network of volunteer managers across Wiltshire.
  • Promote volunteering at key events e.g. activity for annual Volunteer’s Week activity.

 

Strategic development

  • To build an understanding of volunteering activity and any related key issues across Wiltshire
  • To promote volunteering within the county of Wiltshire

 

Contribute to WCA work overall

  • To contribute to WCA in the pursuit of its mission, vision and values through staff meetings and collaborative work with colleagues.
  • To make regular reports through line management to the WCA Board of Trustees and to meet reporting requirements of this Lottery funded role.
  • To work to all WCA policies and procedures and uphold its values and principles
  • To actively involve, work with and undertake supervision of any apprentices/volunteers related to this role.
  • To undertake any other duties relating to the post.

 

This role is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
