Woodland Conservation volunteers Friends of the Folly meet once a month at the Folly Woodlands in Bemerton Heath, to do light maintenance work that benefits nature and local people.
Friday 15th Nov 10-12am is the date of our next monthly meet-up. All welcome!
Recently we have been making benches from the logs lying in the woodlands.
November's duties are likely to include:
- Moving the benches to suitable locations in the woods
- Clearing of vegetation around the entrance of the woods, with a view to tree / shrub / wildflower seed planting later in the winter.
One-off volunteers, including volunteers from workplaces, are welcome, as well as people who would like to join in regularly (monthly).
Bring suitable tools if you have them, including but not limited to: garden forks, work gloves, shears, secateurs, suitable outdoor clothing and boots. (Note, brambles catch on wool, so avoid woolly jumpers unless you don't mind them being shredded!)
You will need to sign a volunteer form from Salisbury City Council, which will be available on the day.
