Edington Parish Hall

A community venue for the benefit of the people of Edington and the wider community

About

A community venue for the benefit of the people of Edington and the wider community

A focal point of the village that hosts events and activities which everyone in Edington & the wider community can enjoy. Edington Parish Hall is a registered charity.

We aim to provide a welcoming venue where a wide range of activities and events can take place that will offer opportunities for people of all ages to socialise and so help to prevent social isolation which can occur in rural communities, as well as helping to improve the health and wellbeing of the local community.

About Us - Edington Parish Hall is a character 19th century building that was built in 1885 for use as the Sunday School for the Priory Church. The hall has been an important part of village life for over 130 years. It is a valuable village amenity with many local groups and individuals making use of its facilities. In 2019, Phase 1 of a refurbishment and development programme was completed and this has provided an accessible toilet, baby changing facilities and an extension to the well equipped kitchen.

In early 2021 the facilities were further improved; WiFi is now available as well as a projector and drop-down screen and an induction loop system. This was funded by a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund & the Department for Digital Culture Media and Sport.

The Hall has a capacity to seat 50 for dining, 60 seated for talks and 80 for a buffet without seating; the grass area outside the hall is large enough for a small marquee.

Local Groups who regularly use the hall include:

Edington Under 5’s (parent and toddler group) who meet weekly,

The Parish Council (monthly meetings, the Annual Parish Meeting and the ‘Welcome to the Village Newcomers Coffee Morning’)

Edington and District Gardening Club

Edington and Tinhead WI

TVM lunches

Edington Music Festival and Edington Arts

Other events taking place in the hall include- Quiz Nights, Big Breakfasts, Coffee Mornings, Lectures & Talks, Edington & District Gardening Club Produce Show, Pumpkin Day, Charity Christmas Card Sale, Church events, Tea and Christmas Carols.

The hall also welcomes bookings for - Special Family Parties and Celebrations. Children’s Parties, Funeral Wakes, Small Business Meetings/Conferences and AGMs.

We are always looking to increase the range and number of activities that take place in the Parish Hall so, if you run or are thinking of running an activity or event and are looking for a venue, please get in touch, either by clicking the "email" link at the top right of this page or using the online form at https://eph.edingtonwiltshire.org.uk/contct-us/

What will we reject?

Wiltshire Together is not a business directory for commercial organisations, as we would then need to charge advertising rates (which we don’t). We will approve relevant activities added by non-profits.

How quickly will we approve activities?

We aim to approve activities within 2 working days. Our admins do not work Fridays, so activities posted on a Thursday may not be reviewed until Monday.
