About

We are here to transform lives and change attitudes to help create a society that works for autistic people.

The National Autistic Society is the UK’s leading charity for autistic people. For over 60 years, we have fought alongside autistic people and their families.

We work to change attitudes and transform lives by providing services, empowering professionals to provide better support and leading on advocacy for the rights of autistic people. And we recognise that this fight continues.

Autistic people still face discrimination and barriers across society, including health and social care, education, employment and mental health. Autistic people face a constant fight and long waits for basic support.

Yet, if systems were improved to work for autistic people, it is likely to work better for everybody. To help improve understanding of autism in education, healthcare and employment, we improve the knowledge of thousands of professionals every year through our conferences, comprehensive training courses, Accreditation Programme and consultancy.

We also offer training for parents and autistic adults. We work across the UK to provide support, change the law and build public awareness of autism so that autistic people don’t have to fight alone to be heard and understood.
