We run services for local families facing disadvantage

Purple Elephant is based in Frome and runs support services for local families who are facing disadvantage. We run:

  • the local Toy Library lending service,
  • stay and play groups for families with preschool children (with access to parenting support),
  • a befriending service for children aged 5 - 12 years,
  • 1:1 family support for families with preschool children,
  • activities for the whole family during each school holiday with a free meal,
  • signposting to other services, and
  • Frome Children's Festival.

The families we support face challenges including low income, additional needs and disabilities, poor mental and physical health, domestic and substance abuse, temporary accommodation and relationship breakdown. Our services support families to overcome their challenges, move forward and have fun.

Most of our services are open to families who live in Frome and surrounding villages, however our holiday activities are also open to any family living in Somerset if their children have additional needs or disabilities. The Toy Library and Children's Festival are open to everyone. All our services are either free or very low cost to attend.
