My passions are education, music and the arts , gardening and food, so this is where my voluntary work has been focussed on. I have been a school governor for about 26 years, and have been Chair of Governors in 3 of the 4 schools where I have been a governor. I have been a Governor at Bishop Wordsworth's Grammar School for nearly 14 years, having stepped down as Chair of Governors in October 2024. I am currently the Vice Chair at EdUKaid, an amazing education charity based in rural Tanzania where we educate children that normally would not go to school, in addition to providing them breakfast and we support their families having set up school farms and the ladies workers cooperative that has taught the ladies to sew and make items that they can sell and earn an income. I am also the Vice Chair at La Folia Music, a wonderful small but mighty music charity that brings together instrumentalists, singers, actors, dancers, visual artists and writers to create new music, original projects and ground-breaking performances under the artistic directorship of Howard Moody. We have recently performed at Salisbury Cathedral, and will be performing at the Salisbury International Arts Festival in June. In addition to this I am a Volunteer Usher with Wiltshire Creative and I am working on creating a community kitchen for the Afghan Refugees who have moved to Salisbury with an aim of bringing communities together through a shared love of food. In my spare time I love to grow fruit, veggies and cut flowers in addition to cooking, sewing and dancing.
