The communal facilities at Rowley Place form part of a supported housing complex, situated within a large residential area near Queensway in Melksham.
It is self-contained and has a number of useful facilities including a communal room, office, kitchen and hobby room.
Selwood Housing’s ambition is to establish the facility as a community hub; providing a space to host events and activities for the local community.
The opportunity
Here are some ideas of example initiatives:
- A community food project looking for a kitchen space to develop a café or cooking classes.
- An activity provider looking for a space for exercise classes.
- A community group desiring a space to run art therapy sessions.
These are just a couple of ideas; we are open to other suggestions.
Our proposal
We're looking for a local enterprise who can step in to help us achieve our goals and manage our facilities at a time when our own resources are stretched thin.
You will be responsible for managing the facility, in liaison with Selwood Housing. Including delivering activities and taking the lead on engagement with the local community.
Our expectation is that the successful candidate will be able to cover their own costs to engage the community in line with their objectives and manage the facilities, including utilities and providing public liability insurance. The total cost would be approximately £250 per week.
Further terms and conditions of the license are up for discussion and we'd be happy to hear your thoughts on the matter.
In return you will have full access of the facilities as a base to run your enterprise; at much lower cost than is usually available commercially, in a space which is right at the heart of the community.’
If you are interested
We would love to hear about your group and how you would like to use the space.
We'd welcome you to come and view the facilities at a time that is convenient; our Supported Housing team would be happy to give you a tour and answer any questions you have.
