COUNTY CHAIR – Voluntary role (c. 4 hours per week/varies)
County Chair role description - The core function of the Chair is to create and lead the county committee ensuring that: the objects of the Charity are carried out in accordance with FCT policy and best practice; decisions of the Board are implemented; and all non-clinical aspects of FCT within their own counties are supported. This includes an ambassadorial role promoting the FCT service whilst staying up-to-date with service levels, funding needs and practitioner numbers within the county as well as developments in the sector. A further key role is to support the County Fundraising Lead to ensure sufficient funds are raised in addition to grants from FCT Centre, that all costs are covered and a working reserve is maintained. Other duties include to:
- Recruit and lead the members of the County Committee.
- Promote the charity within the county and encourage referrals.
- Attend the FCT County Chairs Forum every quarter.
- Represent their county to the FCT Board.
- Hold periodic meetings of the County Committee.
- Write a short plan to establish county targets (service + fundraising) for the year ahead.
- Link in with the county Family Liaison Officer (FLORA) for service updates.
- Provide a brief report to the FCT Treasurer at year end to inform the annual report/accounts.
- Approve payments from the county’s bank account.
- Ensure there is effective succession planning in place for the county committee.
In addition, each county has in place a Referral Panel comprising mental health professionals.
Beyond that, the Chair may invite others to join the committee team as s/he requires.
The Person:
- The ability to lead, manage and develop a small team of volunteers.
- Self-motivating with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- An understanding of and empathy with those experiencing mental health issues.
- Sound judgement.
- IT literate.
- A resident of the respective FCT county.
Background: Each county in which the FCT operates has a committee as follows:
- County Chair - voluntary. (Please see the role description above).
- County Clinical Lead - voluntary. Responsible for ensuring clinical operations are carried out in line with FCT policy and appropriate regulation. This includes having clinical responsibility for supporting and guiding the work of the Family Liaison Officer and for leading the county Referral Panel (RP). Clinical Lead would also be the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- County Fundraising Lead - voluntary. Responsibility for developing and leading the county’s approach to fundraising, working closely with the County Chair and CEO.
This committee links in with the County Family Liaison Officer and Recruitment Administrator:
- Family Liaison Officer and Recruitment Administrator (FLORA) - paid. The FLORA acts as the point of contact for referrers, including self-referrers, families/clients and practitioners. S/he processes the referrals and is responsible for recruiting and administering practitioners.
