Downton 4 Family was set up in 2018 to support families when they are having a difficult time.
We are based in Downton where our service extends to the surrounding villages. We work with families where there is a child under 18 living at home.
Families might be worried about relationships, finances, health or just coping with everyday family life. Our mentors will work with and support each family for 6 to 12 months.
Information for people referring a family to Downton 4 Family
Our model is based on 4Family, developed in 2011 by Yeovil 4 Family. This model began in much the same way as ours and has been successfully replicated across the country. Our team have all been trained in this model in addition to their own professional trainings which includes general and learning disability nursing, counselling, psychotraumatology and research into young pregnancy and parenthood. All team members are DBS checked and receive regular supervision.
To make a referral for a family you know, please begin by explaining who we are and a little of how we work to the family. Please print, complete and post the downloadable form to Downton 4 Family.
We would then like you to introduce us to the family in person at a neutral venue. From there we will meet the family, usually weekly, to ascertain their needs and how they wish to address these, before introducing a family mentor to support them in this process. We will work with the family for 6 -12 months to help them help themselves to achieve their goals.
We look forward to hearing from you.
