Home-Start North Wiltshire is a voluntary organisation, working in the county of Wiltshire, committed to promoting the welfare of families who have at least one child under the age of five.
We are an independent charity affiliated to Home-Start UK, the country’s leading family support charity. Our volunteers are parents or grandparents with an interest in and experience of young children and family life. They are trained, supported and supervised to Home-Start UK standards.
We help ordinary people who are going through extraordinary times. Being a parent has never been easy. Regardless of social standing, gender or culture, it can be lonely, frustrating, heart-breaking and over-whelming.
Everyone needs help sometimes, and with our team of experienced volunteers and staff we provide non-judgmental, compassionate support for parents when they need us most.
There is no such thing as a typical ‘Home-Start family’ and the support we offer is as individual as the families themselves.
Our aim is to provide early support to families who are facing these challenges and stresses of family life, including a wide range of difficulties such as isolation, low self-esteem, physical and mental health issues. We work alongside parents in their homes to help raise their self-confidence and their ability to cope in an increasingly pressured society. Our emphasis is on parents helping parents.
