Beyond Dementia are looking for walk volunteers and walk marshals to provide help and support to our charity and walkers on our annual Walk to Remember held at Wilton House Estate.

The role requires enthusiasm, good communication skills and be physically fit enough to stand for up to 6 hours. An interest in walking is useful but not essential. The friendly volunteers will marshal walkers along our 5-mile route through the Wilton estate or help out with merchandise and refreshments.
The role might include the following:
- Helping to set up and taking down the event site
- Offering a friendly welcome to and answering walkers’ questions
- Sell merchandise and / or refreshments
- Marshal (guide) walkers along pre-determined walking route
- Provide support and encouragement to walkers taking part in the event
- Act as a sweeper to ensure all walkers are accounted for and finish the walk safely
- Ensure people stay on track and do not get lost
- Maintain contact (by agreed means) with walk leaders to advise of any issues
Expectations include:
- A full briefing about the event and your volunteer role
- Dress code - long trousers, sturdy footwear (walking boots or trainers) is recommended plus appropriate weather proof clothing. You will be provided with high-visibility jacket
- Reliable and able to commit to the whole event
- Snacks and water will be provided while you are volunteering
- To inform the group Organiser well in advance if you cannot attend as agreed
- To be treated as a valued member of the team
