This course is aimed at all community groups, voluntary organisations and charities that hold data and use digital and online technology.

About this event

Protect your IT networks, devices, and data – learn how to prevent online attacks so that you won't lose important data.

If you are running a small group, organisation or charity you are likely to be holding data. This training course will help you learn some simple effective measures to secure your devices, manage your passwords, spot suspicious emails, protect your personal data to protect you and your community group or charity.

Sometimes it’s easy to assume that charities and community groups are too small to be targeted by online crime or scammers. However, the smallest organisations are often the most vulnerable in all sorts of ways. The latest data from DCMS shows the average cost to a charity of a cyber security breach has been calculated to be around £1,560. https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/cyber-security-breaches-survey-2020

What is Cyber Crime?

Cyber crime is one of the fastest growing criminal activities across the world, and can affect anyone – individuals, community groups and charities. Cyber Crime is the ‘umbrella’ term used for crimes which either take place online or where technology is a means and/or target for attack.

Be cyber security savvy This course is aimed at all community groups, voluntary organisations and charities that hold data and use digital and online technology.
