See Chippenham’s past like never before and play a big part in helping visitors discover and enjoy our town as a Visitor Welcome Volunteer this summer.

This role is based at Chippenham Museum and the medieval Yelde Hall nearby. No two days are the same, and you will meet visitors from both the local area and all over the world.

This role will include:

• Greeting visitors and encouraging conversations to create a warm and friendly experience throughout a visit.
• Getting to know the Museum and Yelde Hall to help share their objects and stories with visitors.
• Assisting customers in our Museum Shop, taking payments and recording visitor figures.

What we are looking for:

Friendly and approachable team players who would feel confident and enthusiastic when welcoming visitors. You will receive training, however some knowledge of Chippenham and confidence with digital technology is an advantage. You will be volunteering in pairs, and applications are encouraged from both individuals and pairs of friends or family. Please note volunteers for this role must be aged 18 or over.

When:

This role takes place on Saturdays, which is our busiest day of opening. You would join us for 3 hours fortnightly, or when best for you, at 10am – 1pm or 1pm – 4pm. We also have opportunities to volunteer during the week. We have availability from mid-April until late October, after which you may choose to continue volunteering with us.

Volunteering with Chippenham Museum gives you the opportunity to:

• Meet new people, with social events and group information sessions.
• Make a difference to the enjoyment of our town.
• Develop new and existing skills, including till training and customer service.
• Include Chippenham Museum as a reference for future roles.
• Discover our work and the museum collection behind the scenes.
• Receive free parking if required, and refreshments, when volunteering.

How to apply:

Applications are open until Monday 2 May.

Please complete our Volunteer Application Form available from the museum and online: www.chippenham.gov.uk/chippenham-museum/get-involved

Please let us know if there are any access adjustments we can make to help you complete your application, or if you would like to discuss anything about the role. Chippenham Museum is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. We want this to be reflected in the diversity of our volunteer team, and welcome applications from people from all backgrounds and identities
