Dorothy House Hospice, in Partnership with Carer Support Wiltshire, is pleased to announce a new Bereavement Help Point Location in Trowbridge.
Bereavement Help Points are social groups, facilitated by volunteers, where people in the local community can access support and understanding from others who are bereft themselves.
Why we want you
To provide support at drop-in groups to patients, family members, friends and anyone who has experienced bereavement as a result of a life limiting condition.
What you will be doing
- Provide companionship and a listening ear in a social setting for those who drop in.
- Prepare for the group session and be available to offer and serve light refreshments
- Provide signposting or direction to a trained professional when needed.
The skills you need
- To have good communication skills, with an ability to listen
- Friendly and approachable
- Empathy and an understanding of the impact of a life
- limiting illness
- Ability to be part of a team
- Awareness of own needs in relation to support.
