We are looking for people to report on news from across Wiltshire for West England Bylines.
In this role, you will identify potential stories and find out more about them. You'll do background research, contact the people involved to find out what they have to say, and supply important local context. We will help you to expand your contacts and develop important skills like interviewing and data analysis. Our editorial teams will polish your articles and work with you to present your writing at its very best.
You could choose to generalise or to focus on a specific subject or geographical area. If you're interested in politics, you could help to hold local councils to account. If you like to get out and about, you could report on rural or environmental issues. If you're not sure how best to use your particular skills, talk to us and we'll help you work it out.
You don't need any special skills for this role. We will help you to develop, no matter where you're starting from. All you need is enthusiasm, curiosity and honesty. We are particularly keen to improve the representation of marginalised groups, and we welcome applications from people who don't currently see many people like themselves working in media.
This is a great way to get some experience if you'd like to develop a career in journalism. It's also a good choice for people who are passionate about Wiltshire or their particular communities. You can help to let the world know why they matter.
