About

Building a network of volunteers to make reusable sanitary pads for refugees and vulnerable people worldwide

The Pachamama Project was set up by student Ella Lambert during lockdown in 2020.

Starting with herself a friend and her mum sewing pads at the kitchen table, there are now over 1,800 volunteers around the UK, elsewhere in Europe, in the US and Canada.

72,000 reusable pads have already been sent to refugees and vulnerable people in Lebanon, Greece, Pakistan, Turkey, Uganda, Lativa, Ukraine, the US and here in the UK.

We have volunteers of all ages - school children sewing for their Duke of Edinburgh awards, sewers, crafters, non-sewers with a sewing machine...all working to end period poverty for the most vulnerable in society. We provide the instructions and templates and, where necessary, the fabric too to make the Pacha Pads that will last 3-5 years.

We fundraise to pay for shipping and fabrics and are always looking for new volunteers to make the pads, for fabric donations and for financial donations.

What will we reject?

Wiltshire Together is not a business directory for commercial organisations, as we would then need to charge advertising rates (which we don’t). We will approve relevant activities added by non-profits.

How quickly will we approve activities?

We aim to approve activities within 2 working days. Our admins do not work Fridays, so activities posted on a Thursday may not be reviewed until Monday.

Would you like to save your progress?

Note: Saving as a draft means your activity will be available for you to edit in your dashboard.

Selecting delete marks your activity as deleted in your dashboard.
