We're here to help you discover more about Wiltshire's people, places and history

Located near the railway station in Chippenham, we are the county's accredited archive for Wiltshire and the site of the Wiltshire Local Studies Library, plus the base for other heritage services such as Archaeology, the Conservation and Museums Service, the Copy Certificates team and Wiltshire Buildings Record.

Our aim is to provide a gateway to discovering the past, working with communities to protect, preserve and interpret the heritage and historic landscape of the county, to develop collections and resources to reflect Wiltshire’s diverse economy, landscape and community for all to enjoy.

Our collections and services can have a positive effect on health and wellbeing, provide enriching, engaging learning opportunities for anyone and everyone to learn more about the people and places that matter to them.
