Health and Wellbeing Forum – Update

The Warminster Area Health and Wellbeing Forum held its AGM in March. Chair, Deborah Gogarty summarised the key achievements of the Forum over the past year.

  • Lobbying for and securing approval for a replacement third pharmacy;
  • Running a Valuing Volunteering event in June along with a follow-up Volunteering Workshop in October;
  • Reprinting another 300 HWB booklets, all of which have now been distributed;
  • Holding four meetings with an interesting variety of speakers;
  • Participating in – and supporting - the recent energy events at the Civic Centre;
  • Validating the value of the Forum through the 2025 Membership Survey and retaining over 50 members;
  • Engaging proactively with the Warminster Area Board and with the Town Council;
  • Using our resources sustainably and minimising our costs – with special thanks to Lisa Cook and Warminster School for the use of the rooms and catering.

We welcome new Forum members and our next meeting is on Wednesday 25th June 2025 at Warminster School. So, do get in touch if you want to find out more.

Health and Wellbeing Fair – 16 May 2026

The Warminster Area Health and Wellbeing Fair came back to the Civic Centre bigger and better than ever in 2023. Over forty exhibitors ranging from sports and health bodies, to hobbies and support groups met the public to explain how they can help to find their way to better health and wellbeing. The impact was prolonged by the popular Health and Wellbeing Booklet of which over 800 copies were issued to the public free of charge. You can view this online here.

We are now at an early stage of planning the 2026 event and are keen to invite those groups who have not yet taken part to express an early interest. The only qualification is that you must provide – or be seeking to provide -a service to those in the Warminster Community Area which stretches from Maiden Bradley in the south, to Deptford in the east, to Upton Scudamore in the north and to the Somerset boundary in the west. The event is free to exhibitors and we especially welcome smaller groups/organisations to showcase their work.

Overcoming digital exclusion

Whether we like it or not, it is becoming more important to embrace the digital age. Access to information and services is increasingly moving online which is fine for many people. But others feel left behind, are dependent on others or feel simply isolated from opportunities.

While it may not be possible to remedy national or regional issues like signal strength, there are many out there with a smartphone, i pad or computer who decide not to use it through cost, skills or confidence. In the Warminster Area there are a number of organisations that can help.
