Home-Start is a local community network of trained volunteers and expert support. We help families with children under five with practical and confidential support.
Be a Home-Start Volunteer
No special qualifications are necessary to become a Home-Start volunteer, but volunteers are usually parents or grandparents with an interest in and experience of young children and family life. We welcome volunteers from all sections of the community.
Talking and listening can empower families to overcome their difficult situations. Volunteers are offered ongoing training and support (including specialist speakers), as well as informal social gatherings.
Our training is now available either in person or as an Online package with one-half day at our office. Our next In-person training is in Swindon starting Thursday April 24th, 10-2pm, once a week for 7 weeks.
During training and when visiting a family, travel expenses will be paid. Help towards childcare expenses may also be available during initial training.
