Ever wanted to teach or train adults? Need a change of career? Yes - then this could be the course for you. This free short course will give you an introduction in to facilitation skills and knowledge in the lifelong learning sector.
It will cover the essential ingredients needed for making an effective facilitator. Participants will have an opportunity to practice the skills they have learnt at the end of the session in a supportive group environment.
This short course aims to give participants an introduction to some of the skills and knowledge needed for facilitating.
This FREE session is being offered in partnership with WEA.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Identify own skills relevant to facilitating.
- Recognise the need for session planning, clear session outcomes and appropriate assessment methods.
- Identify the role of the facilitator.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
No skills or experience needed. This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
Additional materials will be available for participants who wish to access the WEA VLE platform.
How will I be taught?
The class will be delivered via Zoom. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

There will be the opportunity to access a range of further material on the WEA digital learning platform after the course.
What else do I need to know?

This course is being delivered by WEA and as a result all learners will need to enrol with WEA. Details of the enrolment process will be e-mailed to you prior to the course starting and you will need to enrol with the WEA, either online or via telephone. Once enrolled you will receive instruction on how to join the course.
To be able to run this course at no cost to you, we need a minimum of 6 learners to enrol. If insufficient numbers sign up the course will be cancelled 10 days prior to the course date. If you cancel your place after this time you will be charged a £10.00 administration fee.
The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas will be used to provide resources or to support lessons, enable assessment, provide learner feedback and for other activities for individuals away from the course.
