More than 1 in 7 people in the UK has a hidden disability, so the chances are that you have colleagues in your organisation who are dealing with a condition in your workplace every day.
This course focuses on how and why you, as a manager, could and should accommodate their needs to ensure they can achieve their career potential and produce the best outcomes for your organisation.
There are huge organisational benefits to ensuring that colleagues with hidden disabilities are able to thrive in the workplace, and of course, this also benefits the employee, but we will also explore any potential negatives reactions from colleagues which may flow from changes made, and how to manage these to turn them into positive outcomes.
This course naturally leads on from the Hidden Disabilities 2hr Awareness course, but it is not a prerequisite to have completed it before attending this training.
Delegates will:
- Understand the law in relation to protecting individuals with hidden disabilities, and look specifically at how to positively impact processes such as recruitment, selection, appraisals and supervision
- Understand the benefits and potential downsides of accommodating the needs of colleagues with hidden disabilities, and within this context explore how to positively influence the working environment and culture to enable employees to thrive
- Use case studies to explore autism (or other condition as requested) and explore ideas which could be tried in a variety of workplace scenarios
This course is suitable for Managers with line management responsibility, volunteer managers and co-ordinators, HR managers and others involved in frontline roles.
This training is being delivered by Winterbury Training on behalf of Wessex Community Action for volunteers and staff from Voluntary and Community Sector organisations based in Wiltshire.
